Covid-19 Info

Government Guidance:  Children and young people want to feel assured that their parents and carers can keep them safe. One of the best ways to achieve this is by talking openly about what is happening and providing honest answers to any questions they have. Explain what is being done to keep them and their loved ones safe, including any actions they can take to help, such as washing their hands more often than usual. Use words and explanations that they can understand. There are resources available to help you do this, including the Children’s Commissioner’s Children’s Guide to Coronavirus. (click on link to open document).

During the pandemic we published information for parents that we hope helped you during the lockdown phase and recovery.  We were able to keep our school open to provide education for Reception class, Year 1 & Year 6, plus children of any key workers and to keep in touch with parents whose children could not come to school.   We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back in September & hope that you keep safe & well.

Information for September 2020

All pupils return on Tuesday 8th September.  Individual classes plus their teacher and support staff will be groups.  Groups will still need to be kept apart and our protocols for hand-washing and respiratory hygiene are well establishes and will continue.

There will be no large gatherings such as Assemblies or Masses until further notice.

Lunches - The School Meals Service will be able to supply a hot meal which will be chosen as usual in class and for Year 3 upwards, paid for on ParentPay.  If your child brings a packed lunch, please ensure that you provide a Healthy lunch, guidance is available.

Water - Children will need to bring their own labelled water bottle.

Uniform - Full school uniform must be worn but they will NOT need pumps.  Children need to wear black, waterproof shoes - no coloured trainers please.  Your child will need an outdoor coat every day as we will play out in light rain!

We strongly encourage you to walk to/from school if this is at all possible.  To facilitate social distancing and avoid congestion on Bath Road, please consider parking a short distance away and walking the rest of the way to/from school.

Drivers - please remember that stopping on the zig zag markings AT ALL between 8,00 - 9.30 a.m. and between 14.30 - 16.00 IS ILLEGAL.

Where children are being collected by an external after school club, they will be collected from the field at 15.25 and exit via the side gate.

Swimming -  Swimming lessons will not take place during the first half term, we will notify the relevant classes, should this change after the October break.

Illness - If your child complains of feeling unwell, please do not send them to school!  Similarly if a child complains of feeling unwell whilst in school, we will ask you to collect them immediately.  If your child does develop symptoms of Coronavirus and these are confirmed by a test, you MUST inform us immediately.  We have protocols in place to deal with this possible scenario.

Attendance - Please note that all of the regulations around pupil attendance will be back in force from 8th September.  Please DO NOT book holidays in term time, we do not authorised holidays.

New Reception Pupils - We will have special arrangements in place for the induction of our new Reception pupils during the first week of term.  The whole class will not start together until Monday 14th September, they will have pre arranged visits in small groups during week commencing 7th September.

We do understand that some parents will feel anxious about children returning to school.  Once again we have planned very carefully for this and will do our utmost to ensure that they are as safe as they can be.  Eventually, of course, we hope for a return to full normality but in the meantime, thank you for your continued support.
