Holy Spirit Catholic Primary Academy

We are proud to work with all the Catholic schools across our two local authority areas, particularly as the Trust grows and benefits from the expertise and knowledge that other schools joining in the future will bring.

Collective Worship and Daily Prayer

Collective Worship at Holy Spirit takes place every day and can take many forms; Whole School Assemblies, Key Stage 1 and 2 Liturgies, Whole School Morning Prayer, Class Prayers or Class Celebration of the Word - led by the pupils.

Friends, families and parishioners are welcome to join us for Weekly Morning Prayer and other special liturgies and Masses throughout the year.

Each day begins and ends in prayer. Some of the prayers we say are listed below.

We celebrate significant feast days and special times within the Liturgical Calendar, through Masses, Liturgies and Special Prayerful Celebrations.

The school has an active prayer life and families are encouraged to pray at home.

During October and May, Rosary Bags are sent home to families so that they can pray and spend time together.

During Advent and Lent - Prayer bags are sent home for families to use to reflect upon and pray together.

Father Simon visits school regularly to visit the children and support the catechesis in the classrooms. Father Simon supports Year 3, Year 4 and Year 6 during their Sacramental Preparation. Each half term, Father Simon works closely with school in the planning of worship.

Catholic Life & Mission and Collective Worship Lead is Mrs L Jefferson.

Holy Spirit School Prayer :

Dear Lord,

Help me today, to follow instructions, to listen to people,

to work hard and to do my best.

To respect people, places and things and to be honest.

Lord, help me to be faithful in small things.

Amen.

Prayer Before Meals:

Bless us O God as we sit  together,

Bless the food we eat today,

Bless the hands that make the food,

Bless us O God.

Amen.

For what we are about to receive,

May the Lord make us truly thankful.

Amen.

Closing Prayer:

God our Father I come to say,

Thank you for your love today,

Thank you for my family

And all the friends you give to me,

Guard me in the dark of night,

And in the morning send your light.

Amen.
